Eirlume Studio Selected for April and the Bear Summer Residency

We're delighted to share that Eirlume Studio has been selected to take part in the April and the Bear Summer Residency 2026.

From 28th August to 18th September, we'll be showcasing our work alongside a fantastic group of Irish makers in one of Ireland's best-loved destinations for contemporary craft and design.

For us, this is a really exciting milestone. Since launching Eirlume Studio, our aim has been to create handcrafted stained glass and mosaic pieces that bring colour, craftsmanship and individuality into homes and interiors. Being selected for this residency gives us the opportunity to share our work with a wider audience and connect with people who appreciate handmade design.

Bringing Stained Glass into Modern Interiors

At Eirlume Studio, we create contemporary stained glass lamps and lightboxes from our studio in County Leitrim.

Our work combines traditional stained glass techniques with modern design, creating pieces that are both functional and artistic. Every piece is handmade, with many of our lamps featuring reclaimed timber bases crafted by Charlie in our workshop.

One of the things we love most about stained glass is the way it transforms with changing light throughout the day. No two pieces ever look exactly the same, and that's part of what makes the medium so special.

We're excited to introduce more people to the beauty and versatility of stained glass through the residency.

Creating New Work for the Residency

Over the coming months, we'll be busy designing and creating a collection of stained glass lamps and decorative pieces especially for the residency.

This gives us the chance to explore new ideas, experiment with colour combinations and develop designs that have been taking shape in our sketchbooks and studio for some time.

Some of the most enjoyable moments as makers happen during this stage of the process, when an initial idea gradually evolves into a finished piece. We love seeing how different colours, textures and patterns come together to create something completely unique.

We'll also be sharing plenty of behind-the-scenes updates along the way, so you can follow the journey from concept to finished piece.

Celebrating Irish Craft

Another reason we're so excited about the residency is the opportunity to be part of a community of talented Irish makers.

April and the Bear has built a wonderful reputation for supporting independent artists, designers and craftspeople, and we're honoured to be included.

As a small studio, opportunities like this are incredibly valuable. They allow customers to discover the stories, skills and craftsmanship behind handmade objects and to support Irish makers directly.

Come and Visit

If you've been curious about stained glass, are looking for a unique handcrafted gift, or simply love contemporary Irish craft, we'd love for you to visit the residency.

You'll be able to see our collection in person, experience how the light interacts with the glass, and get a closer look at the craftsmanship behind each piece.

We're incredibly grateful to the team at April and the Bear for selecting Eirlume Studio and for supporting Irish makers through initiatives like this.

We can't wait to share what we've been creating and look forward to welcoming visitors during the residency later this summer.
