Eirlume Studio and August Craft Month 2025
This August, we were delighted to take part in August Craft Month 2025, a celebration of craft that takes place across the whole island of Ireland. With workshops, talks, exhibitions, demonstrations, and open studios happening North and South, it’s a wonderful opportunity for makers and the public to connect through craft.
Introduction to Stained Glass Workshop
At Eirlume Studio, we organised an Introduction to Stained Glass workshop using the Tiffany-style technique. Participants learned the essential skills of cutting, foiling, and soldering, before creating their very own stained glass flower suncatcher to bring home.
We had prepared a few different designs to choose from but funnily enough everyone went for the same flower, it gave the workshop a lovely sense of togetherness (and a good laugh too). By the end of the workshop, each person left with a colourful stained glass suncatcher ready to hang in their window, they were all delighted with themselves!
Open Studio
As part of August Craft Month, we also hosted an open studio day at Eirlume Studio. This gave people the chance to drop in, take a look at what we’re working on and chat about stained glass and mosaics. One visitor was particularly keen to try stained glass at home, so we were happy to share some practical advice and tips on what tools and materials she would need to get started.
Why We Take Part
For us, craftsmanship is at the heart of everything we do. Being part of August Craft Month gives us the chance not only to showcase our own work, but also to share knowledge and encourage others to discover the joy of making.
We know from experience how much of a positive impact craft can have on your life, from the mindfulness of working with your hands to the pride of creating something lasting and beautiful. The more we share and celebrate craft, the more it will continue to thrive.
We were truly delighted to be part of August Craft Month 2025 and we look forward to taking part again in future years.
